The Iron Queen - Julie Kagawa Maybe closer to 3.5 stars.

I actually enjoyed this installment more than the first two in the series, and even cried a little bit towards the end. The story hasn't felt very exciting or believable to me so far, but that finally changed a bit here. Meghan has repeatedly said how she has faced all these scary things so the faery courts/rulers were no longer scary, but I never considered her to have been tempered by her adventures (till now). She didn't really do all that much really, and without all the help she had she certainly would have failed (at least in my opinion). This time when she was in battle, she was REALLY in battle, and just seemed much more authentic to me. I really dislike the way that Puck has been thrown in simply to add a wrinkle of a love triangle, and the whole thing is just pointless. There was no angst except for about a chapter during Leanansidhe's house, and even that wasn't organic.

I took a 2 day break during reading this book because we hit up the state fair, and I wasn't sure if I would even bother to finish it since I wasn't really loving the series, and hadn't missed anyone during my break. I'm glad that I didn't give in to that temptation since this book felt like we finally had some good movement, but I'm not sure if I will read the next one in the series.
